5.0L V8 Engine
The Mustang 5.0 engine pays homage to the original 5.0, delivering 440 horsepower* and 390 lb.-ft. of torque. The powerplant features twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT), an aluminum engine block and cold-air induction to help improve power. But that’s only for starters. The 5.0 also has a compression ratio of 11:1 and cylinder heads designed to optimize airflow. Every part under the hood, including the high-energy coil- on, plug design, is designed to work in harmony. This lets the muscular engine breathe efficiently and deliver 100 percent exhilaration every time you hit the gas. And then there’s the exhaust delivering a distinctive throaty roar. Pure Mustang.

LED Sequential Rear Taillamps
Mustang features signature LED lighting in the taillamp surround. The turn signals illuminate in sequence, and the brake lights and signature lighting use LED technology.

I bought this truck in the Spring of 2011.  It is the Nissan Titan Crew Cab.

2006 Infiniti G35

I just traded my 99 Accord for this 06 Infinity G35 sedan. Clean, fast, and affordable! (click on image to enlarge)

It has 29,070 miles on it, and runs great. A couple small scratches are my only complaints.

My favorite features are the Intelligent key, so you never have to take the keys out of your pocket to open the door or start the car, and the Bose stereo system.

1999 Honda Accord EX Coupe

This is my 1999 Honda Accord EX Coupe. It replaced my 1997 Nissan truck. Great gas mileage was a big plus, and I had to get a back seat for the kids. I have done alot to the car to make it great for my business trips.

MECHANICAL

  • Installed new front struts

AUDIO SYSTEM

I drive this car on 3 to 5 hour trips from Austin to Dallas, Houston, and all around. Since I can expense the miles I drive, the vechile is somewhat of a revenue-generating tool. But because of the hours I spend int he car, I wanted a good system to listen to on the road.

  • Replaced radio with the Pioneer FH-P8000BT CD Player with XM tuner. The cool thing about this deck is that is has bluetooth integration, so when someone calls my cell when I am driving, it mutes the radio and enables speakerphone through the car’s speakers. And the XM radio is great because I do not have to worry with changing stations when I travel from city to city.
  • I installed Pioneer TS-A6982R rear speakers and Polk Audio db651s in the front doors to improve the mids and highs. These speakers are powered from the Pioneer deck, but they are very loud and clear.
  • Finally, I installed a crazy-loud subwoofer setup with the Kicker 12″ L7 subwoofer in a Kicker Solo-VBaric L7 enclosure, powered by a Kicker ZX 400.1 400 watt amplifier.

1997 Nissan Hardbody Truck

As most of you know, I inherited a 1997 Nissan Hardbody pickup from my Aunt Mary Ann. This page lists out all the repairs and upgrades I have done to date.

  1. Replaced windshield – $175one

My repair/upgrade list is almost completed. All that remains is to replace the front upper ball joints in the next year, and “maybe” replace the manual transmission top shifter gasket.

But it runs great, and I am loving the 30+ MPG and the fact that is only had 18K miles on it when I got it!

1981 Mercedes 380SL

I acquired this Mercedes 380SL Roadster in August of 2003. It is a 1981 model, and the person I obtained the vehicle from was the second owner, purchasing the car with 30K miles on it. It has been garaged for most of it’s life, but it was also stored for sometime.

The Roadster has 150k miles on. It had the timing chain break, resulting in a complete engine rebuild that cost thousands!! Good news for me because the engine is running strong. It has the Mercedes 3.8 liter V8 motor, which is powerful and very smooth. The car will squeal the tires with the automatic transmission shifts from 1st to second gears.

Cosmetically, I want to replace the carpet and front seats. I will probably end up having the seats reupholstered and use foam instead of the horse-hair seat pads. As for the carpet, it looks okay now, so new floor mats may do the trick.

The paint is in pretty good shape, but almost every panel has a chip, nice, or small dent in it. The paint job will be the largest expenditure. I am looking for the trim piece on the bottom of the door, and the small grille under the bumper, as those pieces are missing.

1972 Mustang (Sprint)

(I sold this car in 2004. I am on the look out for a 1968 Mustang…)

It is a 1972 model, with the 302 ci motor, automatic transmission, and A/C. The exterior and interior are in really good shape.

The history of the name….

The first Sprints were apparently the 1963 1/2 Falcons. These were designed to be a sporty little car with a lot of pep to compete with the Chevy Corvair Monza, which was stealing a large amount of the small-car market away from the Falcon, due to it’s sportier image and performance. The Falcon Sprints were packed with the power of the new Ford 260 V-8 but the small, lightweight (for those times, anyway) body of the 2-door Falcon. This proved to be a rather nice combination, but sales never got close to those of the Monza. The Falcon designers already had a bomb ready to drop on the competition, though.

This secret new car, developed by increasing the performance of the Falcon, while adding eye-catching styling, was the “all-new” Ford Mustang. I think we all have a decent idea of where the story goes from here. The Mustangs left Ford dealerships like rockets (and they didn’t sale bad either 🙂 ), and by the spring of 1966, Ford was preparing to reach the mark of the one millionth Mustang to be produced. But they were also beginning to run short on V-8 engines. For this reason, Ford began advertising the six-cylinder Mustang as the “economy” car with “pep”. With these two events happening simultaneously, it was determined that Ford would create a car to celebrate the occasion, and it would have the 200 CID I-6 engine. These cars had chrome air cleaners, wire wheel covers, interior consoles, automatic transmissions, and other luxury-oriented features. While they were called by many names, the most popular seemed to be the “Spring Sprints”.

The “Sprint” name had now become linked with special springtime models from Ford, and 1967 was to be no exception. The cars were again offered with special trim packages, but the 200 CID I-6 was no longer the only option for the powerplant. New-for-spring colors were also helpful in the success of these cars. By 1968, this idea of special exterior trim had evolved into the point of making the car “look” fast, even though it might have a smaller engine, although six-cylinders had now been excluded from the offerings. A number of similar models appeared through the next few years. The years of 1969, 1970, and 1971 all had their springtime “look fast” model, which could easily be linked with the earlier years’ Sprints, even though these cars were no longer explicitly advertised as Sprints.

1999 Ford Mustang GT

AFstang2.jpg (38910 bytes)I bought this Mustang GT “brand new” June 24, 1999. There was a shortage of GT’s in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area due to an accident in the production facility that dropped the production. In fact, the only reason I found this one is because it was in the body shop having the front spoiler repaired. A customer scraped the front spoiler test-driving the vehicle. The odometer had almost 300 miles on it when I drove it home.

The 1999 Mustang GTs are quite a bit different from the previous year. Besides the obvious body panel changes, the engine is now 260 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 302 foot-pounds of torque at 4000 rpm. The car also underwent steering gear enhancements, suspension improvements, and optional all-speed traction control.

I bought the leather package, MACH 460 watt stereo/compact disc system, convenience package (which includes rear defroster, cruise control, floor mats, etc), and an extra $1500 for the chromed GT 17′ wheels and P245/45ZR17 Goodyear Eagle Tires. I also paid for the window tint at the dealership. The radar detector was a father’s day present from the wife.

Marshall thinks this will be his car one day…
